John Antonini - SVP, Regional Director of Stores, Saks Fifth Avenue
Saks Fifth Avenue's flagship store in Manhattan is a 94-year-old iconic building that is part of the fabric of New York City. In 2014, Saks embarked on a multi-year renovation of the entire store. The luxury customer has evolved their shopping preferences, as well as what they expect from their in-store environment. With this renovation comes an opportunity for Saks to rethink all aspects of the customer shopping experience. This session will provide an inside view on the changes being made in the following categories:

- Re-imagining the store design to encourage customer exploration
- Understanding the role digital plays to enhance and personalize the customer experience
- Recruiting and developing the next generation of style advisors

8:45 am - 9:10 am Keynote Presentation: Stance Self Checkout, No App Required

Paul Zaengle - EVP, Direct to Consumer, Stance
Half of all shoppers will avoid a store with lines.  Self checkout has the ability to overcome that barrier, and to allow retailers to deploy their in store teams on the sales floor, instead of behind the POS.  In early 2018, Stance deployed a self checkout solution that didn't require an app download or in-store kiosks..  Hear how it was built and how its working, and hear a case for a self checkout solution that could be adopted by most retailers.

- The case for the future of self checkout, and why every retailer will need a solution eventually.
- The technical architecture, including key partners, systems and data flow.
- The in store guest experience, including signage, associate involvement, and loss prevention tactics.
- Early results, including usage, data capture and other learnings.

10:25 am - 10:45 am Keynote Case Study: The Power Of Investing In Your Front Line

Store associates and other front line employees can play a meaningful role in your customer’s store experience, but are often don’t have the time for in-depth customer interactions because of their need to complete other store tasks. However, this need not be the case. Join us as an executive from Inkling discusses tactics for:
-          Ensuring that every potential customer touchpoint is optimized
-          Improving productivity amongst your workforce
-          Enabling your associates to be brand ambassadors and product knowledge experts
-          Redefining the role of store associates in your stores
If you have been reading the recent retail headlines, it might seem like there is only more doom and gloom ahead for the industry. Beloved stores and franchises are shuttering their doors left and right, unable to sustain brick & mortar locations in today’s challenging commerce environment. However, with change comes opportunity. This session will explore sustainable store practices to promote longevity for your brand, including:
- Capitalizing on both the market share and the physical retail space left behind by store closures
- Redefining the role of the store in your store’s existing consumer journey to maximize it’s impact
- Understanding the landscape of the current retail environment and where opportunities lie for your business in the future
